HMLTV-998 Bulldogs, usually referred to as Bulldogs or LTVs, are the primary ground-based vehicle used by both the KPA and US forces during the events of Crysis and Crysis Warhead.

Appearance[]

LTV

NK LTV

LTVs largely resemble HMMWVs with mounted turrets. KPA LTVs has tan tiger-stripe camouflage while U.S LTVs have a green woodland camouflage. Some LTVs have a tarp covering the back passengers while others do not.

LTVs return in Crysis 2, this time used by the United States Marine Corps and C.E.L.L.

Armaments[]

The gunner fires a mounted Shi Ten machine gun. The machine gun is fairly accurate if fired in short bursts; single shots also work as well. Firing full auto is inadvisable for dealing with long range targets due to the rather quick overheat time and the extremely long cooldown period. While the vehicle is in motion, it is highly inaccurate.

United States Variant

In Crysis 2, the LTV is equipped with a HMG, therefore giving it a very accurate and powerful armament, but with limited ammunition thus restricting its usefulness.

Advantages[]

The LTV is very fast, allowing the player to go from place to place faster. Its mounted machine gun can mow down enemies very quickly.

Disadvantages[]

The LTV has no protection for the passengers, leaving them vulnerable to gunfire. The LTV can easily be destroyed if the fuel tank mounted on the back is hit by gunfire, and its speed can sometimes make it difficult to control. It is also very fragile as compared to tanks, APCs and IFVs, so great caution must be noted when involved in situations with these kinds of enemy vehicles.

Usage[]

In single player, enemy patrol groups often use LTVs to navigate along roads and to reinforce allies under attack. LTVs typically sustain speeds of around 40 mph (65 km/h), but when combined with the NOS booster can reach into the 60's.

Combat[]

C4 Placing C4 on a patrol route can prove an efficient way of destroying an LTV. Cloaking and waiting for the LTV to come near and lay the C4 on the LTV will also work.
Grenades A well placed Frag grenade or Rifle Grenade will destroy an LTV.
Mines Using mines is straightforward so long as the LTV's path is known.
Missiles Any type of missile will destroy an LTV, although LAWs tend to be rather hard to find and so other methods may be preferable.
Tank cannons A single hit will destroy the LTV but it may be overkill so you may wish to use tank mounted machinegun instead.
MOAR Like most vehicles, the MOAR will instantly freeze the LTV, which allows any damage to shatter it. Note: the people inside the vehicle will not be dead when the LTV blows up despite being frozen
Gunfire The LTV is only moderately armored and enough gunfire can destroy one. It may be easier to simply kill the occupants by shooting through the windows though. There are also several weak points that bullets can exploit. The wheels can be shot to disrupt movement, which could possibly cause the LTV to crash. There is a fuel tank on the rear side that, when ignited with a bullet or strength punch, will burst into flames and destroy the LTV after several seconds.
Punches Strength punches can knock the vehicle around and hitting the fuel tank will cause it to ignite, but the mounted machine gun makes this strategy dangerous.
