The Sniper Scope is an attachment in the Crysis series. It has two zoom modes; 4x and 10x. In Crysis and Crysis Warhead the sniper scope zooms by pressing the next and previous weapon buttons. In Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 the sniper scope zooms by pressing the melee button;

Compatibility (Crysis 1)[]

It's compatible with the SCAR, FY71, SMG, Shotgun, DSG-1 and Gauss rifle.

Compability (Crysis 3)[]

The SCAR 2 MOD, Grendel, DSG-1, and Gauss sabot gun, can accommodate this attachment.

Tactics[]

The Sniper scope is the only attachment that should be used to engage an enemy at a long range, since its 10x zoom mode makes it easier to see targets at long ranges.

The 4x scope is useful when the player needs to engage both medium and long-range targets. It has enough zoom to see a medium range target. However, the small crosshair can make it difficult to get a lock on a target, so an Assault Scope should be used if the player wishes to engage medium-range targets.

It might be useful in the Single Player Campaign of Crysis 1 to equip it with a Laser Pointer as well, because if the player aims with the laser dot, the player is even more accurate than the normal crosshair on the scope.

Generally, in Crysis 1, the Sniper scope should be used on the Precision Rifle and Gauss Rifle. The SCAR, FY71 and SMG have a damage falloff at long range that makes those weapons much less effective against a target than the Precision Rifle and Gauss Rifle. The player shouldn't even bother to put it on the Shotgun, since it barely hits a target past short range, much less long range.

The best way to use it is to go prone, engage Cloak Mode and only shoot when the player properly aims at his/her target. Hitting long range targets with a relatively light gun (like the FY71) is easier if the player goes into Strength Mode (aiming is better in this mode and there is less recoil).

In Crysis 2 and Crysis 3, the Sniper Scope can be stabilized by holding Sprint button when scoping (at a steep cost of energy in Crysis 2). and slightly less energy cost in Crysis 3, but only if the weapon handling module is equipped. Crouching will greatly decrease scope wobble in both Crysis 2 and 3. Fitting a sniper scope to your weapon dramatically increases weapon draw time in Crysis 2 and 3.
