[edit] Nature
The MOAC-and its counter part, the MOAR-are alien weapons in nature and are used by the Scouts and Troopers of the main alien race the Crysis series revolves around. They are examples of extremely advanced technology, and due to their weird and mysterious nature, they are considered dangerous and unknown by the U.S. Government during the events of Crysis.
[edit] Specifics
This weapon takes water vapor from the air, freezes it, and fires it at the enemies. Prophet was able to rig this weapon on the battlefield to be human compatible, appearing to use the carrying handles of the Hurricane Minigun. Scientists were baffled how he did it, since it would take weeks for a team of scientists to backward-engineer the MOAC. In multiplayer, there is a variant of the MOAC called the MOAR (Molecular Arrestor), which also takes a second to collect moisture, but instead fires a stream of freezing air at close range, as the alien exosuit can be observed doing. Anyone hit by this is incapacitated briefly, and if the victim is hit by any other weapon during this period of vulnerability, the victim will shatter. This encourages teamwork, where one person carries the MOAR, and another a standard weapon.[edit] Advantages
MOAC requires no ammunition, and has a high rate-of-fire. Its fast warm-up time compared to a minigun makes it much more potent. The MOAC is also an extremely effective multi-player weapon, being able to massacre a platoon or unit of gamers in seconds.
[edit] Disadvantages
The MOAC has a meltdown time, which activates after a period of continuous fire, and consequently fires in short, but powerful, bursts. The MOAC also has a relatively short range of fire, and is only valid for guerrilla based warfare. As it can only fire in hip, to aim would be nearly impossible in hard difficulty because cross hair is not available. The attachment of laser pointer help little because the laser point is hard to see in combat situations. In Paradise Lost where the weapon is firstly available, the SMG or Assault rifles maybe more effective to deal with the high flying Alien Scout because they allow one to aim with iron sight.
